It's About Time...
Today begins the birth of yet another election blog for NALC Branch 214. I've tried several other election ideas - a web site, an online place for candidate circulars, and a communal blog, like this one hopes to be. None has yet been successful, nor have any lived up to my expectations...
So why try it again? Surely no one's interested, able, or trusting enough to want to get involved, you may say. On the otherhand, maybe now is the time, and here is the place. If not, so be it. If so, here's hoping we'll keep it clean, kind, insightful, and inspiring. Our aim, I hope, is to investigate the issues, explore the ideas, pontificate for platforms, and even, dare I say it, campaign for candidates. So, if the idea grabs you, if you've something to say, if you're thinking ahead to "the next time around", or just wanting to reach out to others online - give this a try!
- Anyone can make a comment;
- Any NALC Branch 214 member may become a blog "team member";
- Individuals, Officers, and even outsiders may be readers;
- Unionism shall be our guide.
To become a team member, simply send an email to MailLady Martha, and ask to be included. I will send you an email inviting you to join the blog. Click the link provided, pick a user name and password, and begin posting. If necessary, I will help any who need it to understand how "Blogger" works. It's really not hard, and blogging provides a great opportunity for union activisits.
This blog will be "moderated" by MailLady Martha. However, blog postings will not be blocked for expressing dissident, different, divergent, or even "disappointing" opinions. So, please, if you think this is an opportunity you'd like to take, join the blog. If you think the time for a Branch blog is NOW, use this arena to make it so. If you want to energize your co-workers, your Officers, and your Branch, pass this along and PARTICIPATE: suggest, say, or just point to possibilities; unearth, uncover, examine opportunities; remind, reform, remove what tears us apart. Do what needs to be done. Above all, make this next election year be the best ever...
